They never left they're house.
When they both got sick with tuberculosis, they're parents left them to die.
But before they went away they told the children that they would return, they would just retrieve the doctor...
So they could get well.
Where the parents went nobody knows.
They never returned to they're children.
But the children never quit wating for them to return, a promise is a promise.
Grown-ups should never promise a child something they can't keep....
